The City of Phoenix is proud to support TSMC in building off our existing partnership to ensure Phoenicians have access to top-tier instruction and rewarding jobs."<br></p><p>Earlier this year, TSMC Arizona unveiled a first-of-its-kind semiconductor-industry focused Registered Technician Apprenticeship for Facilities Technicians. This program was sponsored by the City of Phoenix, and supported with classroom curriculum co-developed with Maricopa Community Colleges. The first cohort started as TSMC Arizona full time employees in April, and those individuals are now earning their on-the-job training hours and attending courses at Estrella Mountain Community College. The estimated time to complete an apprenticeship is 18 to 24 months, with opportunities to pursue stackable credentials and an optional associates degree. <br></p><p>TSMC Arizona is investing more than $5 million in this program that provides on-the-job training hours and education tuition support for its apprentice employees as they earn their apprenticeships or "journeyman cards." The program is also supported by the City of Phoenix and the Arizona Commerce Authority. This effort is also backed by the Department of Commerce as part of the CHIPS Act funding incentive program to mobilize the regional workforce for large-scale semiconductor investments. <br></p><p>Once all three TSMC Arizona advanced-manufacturing fabs are fully operational in Phoenix, its local workforce will near 6,000 people, which will include thousands of technicians. TSMC Arizona is partnering with these educational institutions now to recruit and hire nearly 130 new apprentices and trainees in 2025. A special ceremony held on Monday marked the start of the historic demolition, setting the stage for an $850 million redevelopment project called The ​Metropolitan that will breathe new life into the area.</p><p style="color:#000000;font-family:calibri;font-size:13.3333px;background-color:#ffffff;"></p><p>The deconstruction and the significant transformation to follow, led by Concord Wilshire Capital in partnership with Diversified Partners, and the City of Phoenix, will redefine the Metrocenter corridor by creating a vibrant multi-use urban village. The redevelopment plan includes townhomes, retail spaces, restaurants, parks, bike paths and more.</p><p>Concord Wilshire Capital is a nationally recognized leader in residential, resort, and mixed-use real estate development and construction, with a reputation in large-scale, impactful projects that blend innovation with sustainability.</p><p>"Our extensive experience allows us to revitalize urban landscapes into thriving spaces," said Concord Wilshire Chief Counsel Steve Betts. "We couldn't be more excited about this project, our new community and business partners, and the continued growth we foresee in the area."<br></p><p>Diversified Partners, headed by CEO Walt Brown, will play a key role in the planning and execution of the retail space to be known as The Loop, and will offer enhanced amenities boosting the local economy. Diversified Partners is a real estate development and brokerage firm with a long history of successful commercial, retail and mixed-use projects across the western United States.</p><p>As part of this collaboration, the City of Phoenix ensures the redevelopment aligns with its broader goals for sustainable growth and transportation. The newly completed Valley Metro Thelda Williams Transit Center, featuring Metro Light Rail services, will position the Metro District as the newest epicenter of activity and connectivity.</p><p>"This project represents the next phase of growth for our City," said Christine Mackay, Phoenix's Community and Economic Development Director. "We are not just breaking ground, but are laying a foundation that reflects the evolving needs of our community. As we reflect on the past, I'm excited for the developments to come."<br></p><p>Metrocenter Mall opened in 1973 and was once one of the largest malls in the country, revolutionizing Phoenix's retail landscape.
