Join the Phoenix community as it celebrates 602 Day annually on June 2. The City of Phoenix partners with local businesses and organizations to offer special discounts and deals, and host events and activities that promote community spirit and honor 602 as the City’s most historically significant area code.
<div class="ExternalClass5F6E2A9134F8447692B136D4F9AA3250"><h1></h1><h3>What is Area Code Day?</h3><p>Area Code Day is celebrated in communities around the country, as cities embrace their local flare and uniqueness on the calendar date that corresponds with their local area code. </p><p>Area Code Day generally involves local businesses offering discounts, special promotions, concerts and cultural events that highlight local food and art. The celebrations typically originate between residents and businesses, with the support of local government and non-profits.<br></p><h3><br>Why 602?<br></h3><p><strong></strong>Established by AT&T in 1947 as Arizona's original area code, 602 now specifically serves Phoenix after splits in 1995 and 1999 created additional codes (480, 520, 623, 928) to accommodate population growth.
